ARTICLES OF FAITH
THE SCRIPTURES:
We believe that the Bible is the authoritative infallible word of God.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (1st Timothy 3:16).
“For
the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”.
(1st
Peter 1:21) .
B ONE GOD:
We believe that within the one Being that is God, there exist eternally three coequal
and coeternal persons, namely, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
a) The Father is God - (John 6:27, Ephesians
4:6)
b) Jesus Christ is God (Hebrews 1:8)
c) Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4)
JESUS CHRIST:
We believe
in the deity of Jesus. He is fully God and fully man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin
Mary. He was the one who was prophesied would pay the penalty of sin through His death on the cross, in whom we have
redemption. He rose from the dead in His own glorified body, appeared to many, ascended into heaven and will return
to earth in power and glory. He is now the Head of the Church.
“And without controversy great is the mystery
of godliness; God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory” (1st Timothy 3:16).
THE HOLY SPIRIT:
We believe in the deity of the
Holy Spirit. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement unites men and women to Jesus Christ in faith.
“ And when he is come, he will reprove the World of sin and of righteousness, and of Judgement” (John 16:8 ).
The
Holy Spirit brings about the new life and dwells within each and every believer. “Not by works of righteousness which
we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost”. (Titus
3:5)
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to all that believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that all the
gifts of the spirit mentioned in the New Testament are available to the Church and will be until Christ returns.
WATER
BAPTISM:
We believe in baptism by submersion and only those who make a confession of faith should be baptised.
Jesus Himself said, “He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved” (Mark 16:16).
Being baptised in
water is an outward act of obedience, by which we testify of the change that has taken place in our hearts. By this
act, we make ourselves one with Christ in His burial and His Resurrection. We are separated from old life of sin and defeat,
we come out of the water to lead a new life of righteousness and victory, made possible by God’s power in us.
